Grave Markers
White Rock Cemetery is filled with hundreds of grave markers of all shapes, sizes, and materials, dating from the 1880’s to the early 21st century.
The cemetery is known for a large number of handmade concrete markers from the 1920’s and 1930’s, many of which display unique vernacular, artistic designs and motifs only found in the Lynchburg area. Unfortunately, their maker remains unidentified.
There are also several dozen government-issued veterans’ markers. Due to age and deterioration, many of the markers are broken, fallen over, or sunken and in need of repair.
